Smart Futures Training wins major regional award

An independent government-approved national training provider based in north Somerset has won a major regional business award recognising the speed of its growth and development in the past two years (October 2019).

Smart Futures Training in Weston-super-Mare was named the winner in the Start-Up Business category at the recent South West Business Leader Awards despite stiff competition from hundreds of other entries.

Company CEO, David Grant said: “We were so proud to receive this accolade. It’s marvellous recognition of every team member and their dedication. Everyone works incredibly hard here to do our very best for our clients and their staff and apprentices.”

Smart Futures Training is a government-accredited training provider, which supports employers across a wide range of sectors to develop innovative and bespoke learning and development programmes.

It also offers a wide range of apprenticeships and short courses in construction, hospitality/leisure, retail, healthcare and leadership and management.

“The award organisers received more than 200 entries this year, so the competition was intense, and we’re overjoyed to have won in this category. We also very much enjoyed meeting all the other finalists at the prize-giving ceremony hosted by Michael Portillo at Ashton Gate in Bristol at the end of last month.
“We were also runners-up in the Innovation Award category, so were interviewed as finalists in the two categories for more than two hours for each by a panel of industry-leading judges at our head office. It was a tough grilling, but we’re delighted to have come out so well in this category, which means a lot to us as we’re a relatively new business.”

Smart Futures Training, which was also a finalist in 2019 Somerset Business Awards in the Technology and Business of the Year categories, began trading after the management team identified an opportunity to deliver apprenticeships and short courses in construction, hospitality/leisure, retail, healthcare and leadership and management.

The company specialises in apprenticeship management and assisting businesses who are subject to the levy.

“Using the latest technology, we have been able to engage with a wider audience, thus transforming our clients, their staff and apprentice’s experiences. This technology has enabled us to provide high quality bespoke training and has helped us to grow our business. Its these results that impressed the award judges and have gained us this win and our other two finalist placings.”

During the past 12 months, Smart Futures Training’s workforce has grown from five to 42 staff.
