Solar PV works by absorbing solar energy, via a network of individual PV cells located in each panel. The cells are then able to produce electricity in the form of DC (Direct current), which becomes converted to AC (Alternating current) to allow this electricity generated to be used.
It is thought that when there is no sun, the panels do not generate any electricity. Of course, the more sun the more electricity is produced, but Solar PV does continue to operate even on cloudier days!
